What do I get if I sign up?

The most important thing you get is a new family. Joining the team makes you a part of an amazing group of women who support and challenge each other, care for one another, and become lifelong friends. Your head coach and assistant coach are both decorated female racers who have been in your shoes and who will be looking out for you every step of the way. And on top of that, you get the list of cool things on our Memberships page.

How do I sign up ?

Registration for 2027 will be open in October following our first get to know you ride. Following the ride previous years riders and new riders will have the availability to sign up. Registration will be open year-round with the season officially starting January 01, 2027. Membership will be adjusted quarterly throughout the year.

What kind of bike do I need?

At a minimum, a full-suspension mountain bike with a dropper post. It is not required to have a full-downhill bike, though many of our riders find themselves wanting one after the first season! If you are considering racing having a long travel 170mm+ enduro bike or dual crown downhill bike is highly recommended.

What other equipment do I need?

It is required by the team that you wear a full-face, DOWNHILL full-face helmet at the park with goggles and a chest protector.  We highly encourage you, at a minimum, to wear knee and elbow protection and long pants/shirts in addition.

Are there tryouts?

There are not. Once signups are finished, new riders will be sorted after a team ride into beginner, intermediate or advanced, which will put you in a group of riders of similar skill when we are on training and riding days.

How good do I have to be?

To get the most out of the team you should be comfortable riding your local blue/black trails with ease. I.E Betasso, Hall Ranch - Antelope, VCMP - Drop Shaft, Trestle - Shy ann

Is there an age limit/minimum?

Do I have to race if I join the team?

Absolutely not. Only the race team will have race requirements. It is up to you!

Are there additional cost for training outside of the team membership?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Additional costs may include: bike park lift tickets , race entries, lodging (if travel), and protective equipment/parts/bikes are not covered by the team membership. It is common for races, training days in the mountain, etc for the team to carpool, share lodging, and split gas!

If i am attending a team-supported race what does that mean?

Team support races will have the following:Dedicated team pit space for the duration of the race weekend. Team mechanic on site for mechanicals. Coach led track walk, warm up and practice runs.

What if I have never raced before?

That is what Full Send is for! You don’t need a race résumé to join Flow Riders. Full Send is designed for women who want to seriously improve their riding and may be interested in racing—but aren’t quite ready to commit to the Race Team yet.Throughout the season, you’ll build the skills, confidence, and race knowledge you need to decide if racing is right for you. You’ll get more time with coaches, additional training days, and plenty of opportunities to ride with other women who are working toward the same goals. When you’re ready to line up at your first race, you’ll have a team behind you and the skills to feel prepared.
